Description
No. 1 of a small new collection of stones, all inspired by the sea, called “One Night I Dreamt of The Ocean.” This particular stone is called “Home Maker” inspired by the humble hermit crab.
For context, I remember having to design a perfume, the branding, advertising, and mock-up bottles and packaging for my school A-Level art, way back when. I decided to call it “Ocean.” Since my second-cousin was over visiting from South Africa, I managed to talk her into doing a photoshoot on a very cold Northern Irish beach in the winter. My tagline was “One Night I Dreamt of Rain, In The Morning I Discovered An Ocean.” – London, New York, Milan, Cullybackey. It was a big source of laughter having our wee Northern Irish village tagged on at the end. Anyway, the line has stuck with me, though I decided to change it up a bit for these painted stones.
Joking aside, here’s the important info:
Handpainted in acrylics, with two coats of satin varnish for protection.
However, these can not be guaranteed to be fully water-resistant, so if they get dirty, please just polish with a dry e-cloth, or at most, with a slightly damp one.
Approximate measurements: 12cms long, 7 cms wide
Weight: 0.335 kg
Please remember they are not toys, and some are very heavy, so please be careful not to drop them!
They are all signed, dated, and numbered on the reverse.
They can be collected from my studio (in which case if you pay postage here, I will refund this), or posted worldwide, sent insured, tracked and signed for, in sturdy packaging, but as some are very heavy, postage prices will unfortunately be high accordingly.
They make stand-alone pieces of art, which can be displayed around the home on a shelf, mantle piece, or table. I recommend placing some kind of doily if possible underneath so that no furniture is scratched or damaged, but this is not strictly necessary.
They make great paperweights too, especially the heavier ones.
I have a few other stones still for sale from some years ago in my Etsy shop, also. Subscribers to my mailing list and new subscribers before I send out my next newsletter by the beginning of March, will receive a 10% discount code for this collection, and only for use in my website shop or in person from my studio. The form is at the bottom of the homepage.
You can watch a video made by my husband (@hfphotography) on my Instagram and Facebook, showcasing the stones on a beautiful beach, while I recite John Masefield’s famous poem, “I must go down to the sea again.”
PLEASE NOTE: THE SALE OF THIS ARTWORK OR ANY OTHER OF MY ARTWORKS DOES NOT INCLUDE THE COPYRIGHT, WHICH REMAINS THE SOLE PROPERTY OF MYSELF, THE ARTIST. PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY OF MY IMAGES WITHOUT MY PRIOR CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE, THANK YOU.
