Description
A drypoint print made using a face shield as a printing plate.
A drypoint is made by etching into a metal or plastic substrate (printing plate) with a sharp tool or etching needle. For this piece I used a face shield to cut out shapes and etch my design into it.
Once the design is finished, each print is made by wiping etching or intaglio ink all over the plate and then wiping off the excess where not required. This is the most time-consuming part and needs to be done for each new print, which is then put through an etching press. When dry, I added a little colour with a light watercolour wash.
Small edition of only 10.
Paper size is 30.5 x 40.5 cms approx, or 12 x 16 inches.
Please note that due to the handmade process, each print varies slightly in the tone of ink and the colours used.
Printed using AKUA Intaglio inks on BFK Rives printmaking paper, with added watercolour once dry.
Your print will be shipped rolled in a postal tube and sent tracked and signed for delivery. These are also available in the studio wrapped as in the last two photos.
